Updates

August 11, 2020

Pending restrictions being lifted for gyms and fitness centers as part of the state’s reopening plan, UNCG’s Leonard J. Kaplan Center for Wellness anticipates reopening Saturday, September 12 for fitness and recreation use.

The health and well-being of our campus community remains a top priority. Therefore, Kaplan Center staff will continue to communicate and work with university and health officials to help ensure a safe on-campus environment.

Until Saturday, September 12, the Kaplan Center operations will continue to follow the State of North Carolina’s Interim Guidance for Fitness Center and Gym Settings with Limited Operations and university procedures.

Fall 2020 Academic Class Access

Beginning Monday, August 17, and until restrictions are lifted in the state of North Carolina, access to the Kaplan Center is limited to only students enrolled in on-campus, academic classes  that are scheduled to take place at the Kaplan Center.

Students will be permitted to access the facility during their regularly scheduled class time and should enter through the main doors.  Students must wear a face covering and present their SpartanCard to access the facility. In addition, remember that it is our shared responsibility to help keep our community safe and healthy. Please practice social distancing while attending class at the Kaplan Center, wash hands frequently and use hand sanitizer, and be patient with others as they adjust to our new procedures for operating the facility.

Recreation and Wellness will continue to offer virtual programming and some new outdoor programming options. Please check our website and social media for updates and programming schedules. In addition, questions can be directed to us by email at recwell@uncg.edu or calling 336-334-5924.

COVID-19 continues to keep us on our toes. We will keep the health of our community at the forefront of our decision making. We will provide updates on operational decisions, new procedures and protocols, and other plans as they become available. Please monitor your email and regularly review information from the UNCG COVID-19 website (https://update.uncg.edu/).
