We want to thank you for your continued patience over these last few months. In coordination with the governor’s announcement this week regarding indoor fitness facilities, the Kaplan Center will be opening on Saturday, September 12th at 10:00am.

For the fall semester, our hours of operation will be:
Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 10:00pm
Friday 6:00am – 8:00pm
Saturday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Sunday 10:00am – 10:00pm

Over the next week, we will be updating our website and communicating details regarding your membership and important considerations when visiting the Kaplan Center.

1) Download and complete the registration packet for the program you are interested in joining.

Spartan Outdoor Orientation Program

The Spartan Outdoor Orientation Program (SOOP) is sponsored by UNC Greensboro Outdoor Adventures, the outdoor education and recreation program within the Department of Recreation & Wellness. SOOP is a unique program designed for first-year students at UNC Greensboro. We utilize adventure and outdoor recreation experiences to assist new students in bridging the gap from high school to college while building a strong community with fellow first-year students. Previous experience is NOT required for any of the programs, so this is a perfect opportunity to try something new! Please read through the following information to learn more about the different programs, costs, and how to register. We hope you will consider this wonderful opportunity to explore the outdoors and establish a community with fellow first-year students!

Costs includes transportation, equipment, instruction, meals, camping, and all activity fees.

Art Loeb Backpacking & Rafting

Date: July 8th-14th, 2018
Location: Western, NC
Cost: $220.00
The Art Loeb Backpacking & Rafting adventures will take place on the 30.1 miles of the beautiful Art Loeb Trail of North Carolina. With everything we need in our backpacks, we will spend several days backpacking trails within Pisgah National Forest. Highlights of this trip will include sweeping mountain views, swimming holes, waterfalls, and plenty of great memories with your fellow group members! Our trip will conclude with an exciting and scenic whitewater rafting trip on the French Broad River where we will spend the afternoon cruising through rapids and enjoying our last night camping out before heading back to Greensboro.

Island Kayaking & Sail Exploration

Date: July 8th-14th, 2018
Location: Outer Banks, NC
Cost: $220.00
The Island Kayak and Sailing trip will take us on an adventure to Cape Lookout National Seashore with everything we need stowed neatly in our boats for the week. We will be camping on several islands, only accessible by boat, and enjoying the sunshine, ocean, and wild horses. Cape Lookout National Seashore is located just off the coast of North Carolina and is home to a historic village, a lighthouse, wildlife, and of course: beautiful beaches. After we finish our days of paddling, we will relax on a sail boat where we will enjoy lunch from a local deli and the ocean breeze.
