Special Hours Notice:

We want to thank you for your continued patience over these last few months. In coordination with the governor’s announcement this week regarding indoor fitness facilities, the Kaplan Center will be opening on Saturday, September 12th at 10:00am.

For the fall semester, our hours of operation will be:
Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 10:00pm
Friday 6:00am – 8:00pm
Saturday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Sunday 10:00am – 10:00pm

Over the next week, we will be updating our website and communicating details regarding your membership and important considerations when visiting the Kaplan Center.

Event Description


Join the Department of Recreation and Wellness for our 2nd annual UNCG Indoor Triathlon! Whether competing as an individual or with a team, there is a spot for everyone. The event will consist of a 10-minute swim, 30-minute bike and a 20-minute run. Each participant/team will be recorded for the amount of distance completed during each time so come swim, run, and bike your heart out. All proceeds will benefit Spartan Open Pantry and Backpack Beginnings.

What is the UNCG Indoor Triathlon?
Join the Department of Recreation and Wellness for our inaugural Indoor Triathlon! Whether competing as an individual or with a team, there is a spot for everyone! The event will consist of a 10-minute swim, 30-minute bike and a 20-minute run. Each participant/team will be recorded for the amount of distance completed during each time so come swim, run, and bike your heart out!

Is there an age limit?
All participants MUST be 18 years of age or older WITH THE EXCEPTION of UNC Greensboro students. 

Who do I contact for questions about my registration?

When will I find out what heat I am in?
We will assign your heat when we email the race packet information.

What do I need to bring?
Swimsuit, comfortable athletic clothing, socks, shoes, a water bottle, a towel, and a positive attitude!  

Are towel available?
Yes! Bath towels will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own!

Are lockers available?
Yes! We will have a section of lockers available in our men, women, and unisex locker rooms.

What do I need to bring for check-in?
A photo ID (either government issued or University ID) and a copy of your registration (paper or electronic) to assist in making your check-in process smoother. 

Will there be food?
Yes, we will have snacks available after the event such as bagels, fruit, granola bars, mini muffins, and coffee!

Are substitutions allowed?
Up until March 16th, you can substitute another individual into the event at no cost. T-shirt size will not be guaranteed for substitutions. ​

What about parking?
Participants can park in Lot 50, across Gate City Boulevard from the Kaplan Center or Lot 49, next to the Kaplan Center on Neal Street. Neither parking lot requires a parking pass on the weekends.

Are there places to shower/change?
Yes, the locker rooms located on the first floor have showers. Bathrooms can be found throughout the facility.

Can I bring my own music?
Yes! You are more than welcome to bring your own music to listen to during the event.

What is the transition time between each event?
10 minutes between the swim and bike portion and 5 minutes between the bike and run portion.
