Love Boats
The Kaplan Center created a romantic atmosphere at last week’s Valentine’s Day-themed “Love Boats” event, serving dinner and allowing students to watch the film “The Notebook” while paddling canoes in the swimming pool. Those not wanting to risk being capsized, were free to watch from the poolside bleachers.
“It looks like lots of fun,” says junior Catherine Mooney, who was manning a table for the SPARTA Peer Health Education program. “The food was really good, too.”
SPARTA, which stands for “Spartans Promoting Awareness Resources to All,” was at the event to promote safe sex practices. Other core aspects of the programs mission include mental health, healthy relationships and nutrition and body image.
“People responded really well” to the message, said Mooney.
Other activities at the event included playing board games and a photo booth where couples could have their picture taken.
