Special Hours Notice:

We want to thank you for your continued patience over these last few months. In coordination with the governor’s announcement this week regarding indoor fitness facilities, the Kaplan Center will be opening on Saturday, September 12th at 10:00am.

For the fall semester, our hours of operation will be:
Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 10:00pm
Friday 6:00am – 8:00pm
Saturday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Sunday 10:00am – 10:00pm

Over the next week, we will be updating our website and communicating details regarding your membership and important considerations when visiting the Kaplan Center.

Alumni/Affiliate Memberships

Alumni Membership

To be considered a UNCG Alumni, you must have graduated from the University with a degree. Alumni will have two categories: Recent Alumni and Alumni. As of August 2016, if you have graduated between May 2012 and May 2017, you will be able to join as a Recent Alumni for a 5 year period from the date that you join as long as you join by May 15, 2019. If you graduate after May 2017, you will able to join as a Recent Alumni for a 3 year period. If you graduated prior to May 2012, you would be consider an Alumni Member and be charged at the Alumni Member rate.

All Alumni members are eligible to sponsor one additional person for membership to the Kaplan Center. The additional member must be at least 18 years of age and show a government issued ID with proof of age at the time of membership application. To join the Kaplan Center, you will need to come to the Recreation & Wellness Administrative Suite to complete the membership application, and pay the membership fee. The sponsoring member will need to accompany the additional person to the Administrative Suite receptionist desk in order to apply for the membership.  Additional members are not eligible to sponsor someone else for a membership.

For Alumni members, we will issue you a Kaplan Center ID Card that must be presented each and every time you enter the facility. An Alumni Membership allows you access to most of the programs available within the Department of Recreation and Wellness. However, Alumni members are not allowed to participate on an Intramural or Club Sports team or as an individual participant.

All Alumni and Recent Alumni have 2 options for membership; to join for 1 year or to join by semester. The membership year is from Aug to Aug; specific dates vary with the calendar. The Alumni and Recent Alumni must have a membership in order to sponsor an additional member.  The Additional Member can only have a membership for the same time period as the sponsoring member.  Additional members are not eligible to sponsor someone else for a membership.

Alumni Day Pass

Cost: $8.00 per day

If you are a UNC Greensboro Alumni and are in town for a short stay and want to workout at the Kaplan Center, you can purchase an Alumni Day Pass. You will need to come by the Recreation & Wellness Administrative Suite during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:30pm) to purchase an Alumni Day Pass. A government issued ID is required to confirm your Alumni status. All individuals wishing to purchase an Alumni Day Pass will be required to sign a liability waiver. Upon purchasing an Alumni Day Pass, you will receive a temporary Kaplan Center pass indicating the date(s) for which the pass is valid. This pass, along with a government issued ID, must be presented each and every time you wish to enter the building. The person purchasing this day pass cannot sponsor additional guests for the day.

Affiliate Membership Fees

Affiliates are defined as individuals who permanently reside in the eligible perimeter of the Glenwood neighborhood and UNCG Employees from Dining/Chartwells and the Bookstore.

The Glenwood neighborhood is defined by the 2010 Vision Plan for Spartan Village and is specifically set by the City of Greensboro as the area bounded by Freeman Mill Road, W. Gate City Blvd, and Coliseum Blvd. Glenwood residents are required to provide proof of residence both at the initial membership application and each time the membership is renewed. A bill (such as utility or cell phone), bank statement or current pay stub showing your Glenwood neighborhood address, along with a government issued ID (such as valid driver’s license or state ID card) will serve as proof of residency in the Glenwood neighborhood. 

Affiliate Employees need to bring a letter, on letter head, from a supervisor stating that they do work for Chartwells or the Bookstore and they will need to provide a letter each time they renew. Additionally, Affiliate Employees are required to obtain a University ID card from the Spartan Card center if they don’t already have one.

Single Affiliate Membership The membership year is from Aug to Aug. $250/year paid in full at time of joining/renewing; $100 from Aug 13 to Dec 21; $100 from Jan 2 to May 12; $75 from May 13 to Aug 18 (specific dates will vary with the calendar change)

Weekend Affiliate Membership The Weekend Affiliate membership (available to Glenwood residents only) provides access to the facility during Family Weekend Hours; 3pm Friday through close on Sunday. The membership rate is $25/month for up to five (5) family members with a minimum membership length of one semester (4 months for Fall/Spring and 3 months for summer); August 13- December 21, January 2-May 12 and May 13- August 18.

General Information

All membership fees listed are for membership only and do not include a fee for other Kaplan Center services such as towel service, locker rental, equipment check out, etc. 

All Additional Membership Categories are ineligible to sponsor someone else for a membership including the family weekend membership.

Membership fees are non-refundable unless membership is cancelled within three business days of initial purchase.  Membership fees are non-transferable to other membership periods and to other persons.

All membership rates are subject to change at the beginning of each membership year.
