Student Membership

Special Hours Notice:

We want to thank you for your continued patience over these last few months. In coordination with the governor’s announcement this week regarding indoor fitness facilities, the Kaplan Center will be opening on Saturday, September 12th at 10:00am.

For the fall semester, our hours of operation will be:
Monday – Thursday 6:00am – 10:00pm
Friday 6:00am – 8:00pm
Saturday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Sunday 10:00am – 10:00pm

Over the next week, we will be updating our website and communicating details regarding your membership and important considerations when visiting the Kaplan Center.

Student Membership

All currently enrolled students, who are enrolled in Main Campus programs, are already members of the Kaplan Center.   A portion of the Student Activity Fee supports the Department of Recreation & Wellness and pays for your membership.  Therefore, as long as students are enrolled in at least 1 hour of class and are being assessed the Student Activity Fee, paid with their tuition, all that is required to access the Kaplan Center or access any of its programs or services is your UNC Greensboro Spartan Card. You must present your valid UNC Greensboro Spartan Card every time you wish to utilize the Kaplan Center. 

If you are an enrolled student who is not paying the Student Activity Fee, such as On-Line Program Students or Consortium Students, then you can pay the $60 semester fee at the Kaplan Center Administrative Office during business hours.  Please check you current semester bill to see if you are assessed and have paid the UNCG Student Activity Fee. 

Student Summer Pass (Summer Semesters Only)
Cost: $60   (Summer Pass 2020 dates: May 11, 2020 to August 16, 2020 )

  • Actual dates will vary according to the academic calendar. Summer Passes are available from the 1st Monday after spring commencement until the Sunday before classes start in the fall.
  • For UNC Greensboro students that are not enrolled in summer classes;  Student must have been enrolled in the previous spring semester and currently enrolled or planning to enroll in the following fall semester.
  • Student can sponsor one additional member for an additional cost during the summer session. The student must either be enrolled in on-campus classes during the summer semester or purchase a summer pass for themselves before they can sponsor the additional member.
  • The additional member must be at least 18 years of age and present a picture ID with proof of age at the time of membership registration.
  • Additional members are not eligible to sponsor someone else for a membership.

Student Additional Member (Fall and Spring Semesters Only)
Cost: $100 per semester / $75 for Summer 2019

Students are allowed to sponsor one additional person for membership each semester that they are enrolled at the University. The student needs to accompany the additional member to the Administrative Suite Receptionist Desk to register. Our staff will prepare a Kaplan Center ID Card so that the additional member may use the building whenever they want. The additional member must present the Kaplan Center ID card every time they wish to utilize the Kaplan Center.

  • Student sponsor must be currently enrolled in on-campus classes and paying fees in order to be eligible to sponsor an additional member.
  • The additional member can only be sponsored for the current semester that the student sponsor is enrolled.
  • The additional member will have a Kaplan Center ID Card made by the Recreation & Wellness Administrative Office.
  • The student sponsor can renew the membership for the additional member, but the additional member cannot renew without the student sponsor being present.
  • Student Additional Members cannot participate in Intramural or Club Sports teams or as an individual participant in these programs.
  • The additional member must be at least 18 years of age and present a picture ID with proof of age at the time of membership registration.
  • Additional members are not eligible to sponsor someone else for a membership.

General Information

All membership fees listed are for membership only and do not include a fee for other Kaplan Center services such as towel service, locker rental, equipment check out, etc.

Membership fees are non-refundable unless membership is cancelled within three business days of initial purchase.  Membership fees are non-transferable to other membership periods and to other persons.

All membership rates are subject to change at the beginning of each membership year.
